Product Merchandising is a feature that allows you to promote specific products for search queries using particular rules.

Merchandising ranking options

Ranking optionDescription
NoNo promotion, the product is shown as it is in the search. 
By default, all products have the No option.
AlwaysThe product is always at the top of the search results no matter what the customer requested.
On MatchThe product is at the top of the list if included in the search results.
KeywordsThe product is at the top for particular keywords typed in the search box. 
Keywords must be specified. The merchandising rule won’t work without them.
LastThe product is at the end of the list if included in the search results.

Configuring Merchandising

You can manage the merchandising rules for particular products.

Adding rules

  1. Go to Searchanise control panel > Merchandising section > Products tab.
  2. Click the + button in the top-right corner.
  3. Find the necessary products using filters.
  4. Change the Ranking options in the search results.
  5. Optionally, set up the Date range option.
    Note
    Date range option allows you to set merchandising rules for a certain period of time you need. If this setting isn't used, merchandising rules for the item will work until you delete them.
  6. Save the changes. 
  7. Click the Force re-indexation button in the Dashboard section to start the indexation.

That's it. After the indexation is complete, you can go to your store and check out how it works in the search results.

Editing rules

  1. Go to Searchanise control panel > Merchandising section > Products tab.
  2. Click the Edit merchandising button.
  3. Change the Ranking options in the search results.
  4. Optionally, set up the Date range option.
  5. Save the changes.
  6. Click the Force re-indexation button in the Dashboard section to start the indexation.

That's it. After the indexation is complete, you can go to your store and check out how it works in the search results.

Deleting rules

  1. Go to Searchanise control panel > Merchandising section > Products tab.
  2. Select the rule(s) you want to delete.
  3. Click the Delete selected (...) button.
  4. Click the Force re-indexation button in the Dashboard section to start the indexation.

Exporting rules

To export the merchandising rules, follow these steps:

  1. Go to the Searchanise control panel > Merchandising section > Export/Import tab > Export part.
  2. Click the Download as CSV button.
  3. Choose the directory to save the exported file.

Importing rules

To import the merchandising rules, follow these steps:

Important
The file must contain the header fields: 

  • Object_id - Product ID
  • Object_type - the "product" value
  • Ranking - one of Ranking options. If it is set the Keywords ranking option, the file must contain the Keywords header field
These header fields can be optional:
  • Use Date Range - "Y" or "N"
  • Start Date - YYYY-MM-DD format
  • End Date - YYYY-MM-DD format
  • Timezone Offset

  1. Go to the Searchanise control panel > Merchandising section > Export/Import tab > Import part.
  2. Select the CSV Delimiter, which is used in the imported CSV file.
  3. Click the Choose file button and choose the file for importing.
  4. Click the Import button. You can see the imported values in the Products tab.
  5. Click the Force re-indexation button in the Dashboard section to start the indexation.

That's it. After the indexation is complete, you can go to your store and check out how it works in the search results.
